What Happens When Boerne's Population Doubles in 10 yrs?

Number one, it is pretty likely!  The proposed Esperanza development would increase the population by 2450 homes and 7000 people in the 10-year build out.  This, in itself is nearly a doubling of Boerne’s roughly 9000 population.

In addition, if the properties currently annexed and zoned residential were to build out in the next 10 yrs, we would have about another 2400 units – another 7000 people.

Let’s see…  7,000 + 7,000 = 14,000 new residents in Boerne and Esperanza – WAY more than a doubling!  And this assumes NO MORE RESIDENTIAL ANNEXATIONS in Boerne in the next 10 yrs. – not too likely.

Oh, by the way, Kendall County is growing just as fast and were betting these new neighbors will have kids in school and go to the grocery just like those that live in the City of Boerne.

Conclusion:  We are in the midst of a growth boom that will require a lot of citizen input with local government to get the right outcomes.  You can bet the developers and real estate agents will be at the table – that’s how they earn a living.

So what does that mean to the wait in line at the schools in the mornings, school quality, local crime rate, the traffic on any number of streets you can name, the wait at the Post Office, the likelihood you will recognize most of those new neighbors?

BoerneTogether thinks the RATE of Growth is a big issue.  We think that citizens must pull up a chair at the table or we will have developers defining Quality of Life for us.  Government is run by those that show up.
